About the role


Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-Time Business Development Manager-Sales Professional to join our dynamic Plasma Operations division in Vaughan, Ontario. In this role you will be responsible for generating and identifying leads, building a pipeline of potential donors, building relationships and ensuring the growth and maintenance of a high quality, committed donor base. You will be responsible for new donor acquisition through the utilization of our Partners for Life program.


You will also be responsible for community engagement and maintaining a good public image for the donation centre to ensure there is ongoing public support.


In collaboration with the Plasma Associate Director, you will provide integrated leadership and professional sales knowledge to the donor centre by ensuring a strong donor acquisition through donor recruitment and retention. You will also ensure adherence to all relevant policies, procedures and regulations.

 


Key responsibilities include:


  • Responsible for finding and engaging with new donors through referrals, networking, and cold calling.
  • Builds a pipeline of potential donors, maintaining relationships and ensuring the growth and maintenance of a high quality, committed donor base. using proven sales science.
  • Developing and implementing a strong action plan supported by comprehensive data analysis and applying business development techniques based on interactions and results in the field to ensure that the collection and donor base goals are being achieved.
  • Manages senior client relationships within assigned territory and works with centre manager on key initiatives to keep relationships active.
  • Organizes and conducts information sessions/recruitment presentations to specific target groups, based on research into the community and its demographics.
  • Host in community information sessions to acquire leads and referrals for interested ambassadors.
  • Onboard and train ambassadors to support advocacy amongst their social networks.
  • Maintain a solid base of ambassadors/champions to support in community engagement activities.
  • Promotes and enhances a positive public image of the plasma donor centre within the community through public speaking and media engagement opportunities.
  • Works closely with marketing and communications to develop a sales action plan to support business development and retention.
  • Manages, mentors, and directs donor centre staff on implementing sales strategies within the donor centre to exceed targets in assigned territory.
  • Business Development Manager will be required to step in to support the centre manager during their absence.
  • Work in conjunction with the centre manager to foster an exceptional donor experience.
  • There may be a requirement to work in the evenings and on weekends. You may also occasionally receive calls outside of regular business hours to address urgent matters.

 


Education, Training, and Experience:

 


  • 2 years of professional sales experience with a strong desire to generate and close new business
  • Degree in marketing or business administration is preferred would be an asset
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills; comfortable public speaking to various sizes of audiences.
  • Adaptable, flexible and open to change
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in planning and executing media interviews is preferred


Demonstrated Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills by effectively exchanging or presenting relevant ideas or information. Being able to relate to people in a direct, open, trusting and respectful manner.
  • Can influence others using persuasive techniques and negotiating mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Strong ability to close a conversation with a commitment for participation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, being able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities within short time lines, is required.
  • Close ties to the community and deep knowledge of the Orleans area will be considered a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to be adaptable, flexible and open to change in a test and learn environment or start up industry.
  • Strong analytical ability to comprehend a situation by breaking it down into components and identifying key/underlying complex issues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media and how to administer several social media platforms ie:Twitter/facebook and Instagram.
  • Professional sales abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products.
