The City of Port Moody has a regular, full-time opportunity for a Customer Service Representative, Development Services to act as the first point of contact for the public regarding second floor services. This position will suit an outgoing, self-starter who will direct enquiries, take phone calls, and answer a variety of questions pertaining to the Engineering, Planning, and Building, Bylaw & Licensing departments. This position also maintains databases, answers emails, accepts payments, and provides clerical support.

Working at the second floor front counter, this position will provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients while performing administrative and clerical tasks such as the following:

  • Process payments through POS and balance cash
  • Collect information regarding complaints and concerns, creating service calls in Tempest
  • Administrative and customer service duties related to business licence applications, quash requests, tree removal permits, building and plumbing permits, and dog licence registrations
  • Distribute and collect internal and external mail
  • Scan files and enter information into Tempest
  • Prepare and distribute agendas and schedule meetings
  • Prepare correspondence and process mail outs
  • Provide back-up coverage to department Service Assistants

Basic Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 and up to 6 months of related post-secondary course work
  • Minimum six months of job -related experience in a frontline municipal position responding to public enquiries
  • Knowledge of the city, including streets, businesses, development, and current events
  • Understanding of the organization and functions of city departments, including administration, public works and operations, and bylaw and licensing
  • Computer skills, including MS Office, room booking systems, electronic document management systems, Tempest, Prospero, and licensing, telephone, and cash handling systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent customer service skills including the ability to deal with difficult customers
