M andate :

As part of the Software Development team, the Front End Developer will be primarily responsible for working individually or in small teams on development of web-based applications to deliver a great customer experience.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Develop new user-facing features and convert design mock-ups to front-end components
  • Develop scalable and maintainable customer facing web applications, including APIs, and integrations with web services
  • Maintain and optimize the front-end components of company websites by fixing bugs, optimizing page load times, implementing enhancements, and making suggestions for further improvements
  • Build reusable code for future use
  • Implement A/B testing and front-end changes commissioned by the digital team
  • Perform cross-browser testing for all form factors (mobile, tablet, and desktop)
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Validate assets provided by the design team as web optimized and ready for production
  • Practice modern industry best practices
  • Collaborate with other developers, designers, team members, and stakeholders
  • Work closely with Architects to drive innovative solutions to meet business needs
  • Participate in an agile delivery model in partnership with various product scrum teams
  • Collaborate with software engineers and engineering leadership to uncover pain points and opportunities to accelerate the delivery of new business value through platforms and software
  • Work closely with our Product Owners and Business Analysts to define feature specifications and build our next generation of products
  • Scope technical requirements on projects, provide estimates and flag issues that affect scope
  • Test online projects for functionality, presentation, accessibility, and usability

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

If you have the following, you may be the person we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Ability to convert design mock-ups to front-end components with high attention to detail
  • Highly skilled in building front-end (React, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Node.js)
  • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
  • Familiarity with cross-browser testing and debugging
  • An eye for design
  • Experience/knowledge of MS SQL server, No-SQL, databases like Mongo DB/Cosmos DB
  • Experience with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other Software Engineering best practices to accelerate the delivery and quality of new features
  • Knowledge of Cloud Fundamentals
  • Eagerness to learn emerging technologies and understanding how they will impact what comes next
  • A capacity for constant learning from both success and failure, remaining open to change and continuous improvement
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to manage through the creative process
  • Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively articulate and communicate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes to engineering leadership
  • Highly organized with well-developed time-management skills and processes for managing multiple priorities
  • Familiar with Design Patterns and Secure Coding best practices
  • Experience creating and maintaining system documentation.
  • Experience with the following would be considered an asset:
    • Git, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, Postman, Salesforce
    • Web design and/or a good understanding of key design principles
    • Graphic design applications such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
    • Automated front-end testing tools such as Selenium
