What Does a General Labourer Do?

With instructions from the General Foreperson, you will work to keep our highways clean by performing perform grass cutting and debris pick up and removal.

As a General Labourer, You Will:

• Promote, lead, and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants in compliance with Miller Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) polices and ensure contractual HSE obligation for the staff and public are met
• Perform general labour duties, such as but not limited to, debris pick-up and removal, grass cutting, etc.
• Assist in providing traffic control at work zones and at incident scenes, including set up and take down OTM book 7 traffic closures
• Conduct daily circle checks of equipment before operating
• Clean and maintain small equipment
• Perform housekeeping duties to ensure the shop, common areas, and exterior of the yard are clean and safe
• Maintain accurate documentation of hours of service, fuel records, time sheets, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring:

• Class G license required
• 1+ years’ experience in road maintenance and knowledge of OTM book 7 through prior positions, including landscaping, etc. are strong assets, but we are willing to train
• Willingness to learn and appreciate Miller values - safety, quality, and integrity so we can continue “Building Greatness”
• Excellent team player to work productively in a highly functional team
• Flexibility and organizational skills to multitask and manage time in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities
• Mechanical knowledge and experience with general equipment maintenance and operation of small tools and heavy equipment
• Basic computer knowledge
• Effective communication (both written and verbal) to accurately document daily activities
• Willingness to remain on-call occasionally and work assigned day, night, and weekend shifts
• Ability to perform manual labour and lift up to 25 kilograms
• Comfortable working and driving in extreme weather conditions
