What responsibilities will you have in this role?

 

  • Acts as first point of contact for international students and other clients at the International Centre frontline reception, providing student support and enquiry response via telephone, email, virtually, and in person.
  • Provides general clerical duties including photocopying, word processing, faxing; sorting and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail; ordering office supplies and equipment.
  • Updates international student information in Banner, including address, email, and study permit status.
  • Prepares student proof of enrolment letters.
  • Responds to international student and applicant enquiries through email.
  • Provides information to students applying to the College and on various admissions policy and procedures; resolves student issues by liaising with appropriate departmental managers or designates.
  • Identifies issues which may require escalation to the appropriate manager/department (Manager, International Student Integration and Support, Registrar Office, Counseling, academic division, Student Affairs, SA Heath Benefits Office, Citizenship & Immigration Canada or other external organizations).
  • Coordinates appointments for admissions staff with applicants and students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What qualifications do you need for this role?

 

  • Three-year diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Business Administration, or related field and or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in an office environment, preferably in an environment with service for international students, including providing a high level of customer service to diverse clientele in a high-volume educational setting, with demonstrated ability prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with coordinating financial transactions is preferred.
  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and relational databases.
  • Experience in processing high-volume, complex and specialized information and providing guidance is required.
  • Intermediate level experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications; experience in word processing, working with relational databases and spreadsheets.
  • Experience with a Student Information System, such as Banner, is an asset.
  • Experience in problem-solving complex situations, troubleshooting and resolving conflict, exercising tact, discretion and sound judgment.
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service/support; well-developed interpersonal skills, including cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience in prioritizing and managing pressure associated with the management of numerous high-volume tasks in a busy service environment, high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience working independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to work in an environment where a diversity of people and situations are encountered.
  • Ability to travel to different campuses and travel abroad, as required.
  • Demonstrated commitment in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our College.
