The ROSS Office is seeking a full time Program Officer reporting to the Director, People, Space and Integrity. This role will be an integral member of the ROSS team and will work closely with scientists and research staff. The role will support and coordinate key initiatives and processes related to Research personnel and study startup through collaboration with ROSS teams (research quality assurance, research ethics, research HR, research training and practice, research grants, research finance, IPTTO, clinical research and other internal service providers). The successful candidate will support a workplace which embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.

In this role you will:

  • Support the development and implementation of a streamlined study start up process and provide day-to-day operational support to scientists and research staff
  • Support the Research trainee registration and Scientific Appointment processes, ensuring high-quality data collection and positive user experiences
  • Develop and implement processes, templates, forms and reports as needed
  • Contribute to and support ROSS policy development and process improvement initiatives
  • Prepare documentation and communication
  • Provide support to the Director as needed for other initiatives
  • Independently and collaboratively plan and manage small projects
  • Support the development of databases (e.g. MS Excel, REDCap)
  • Monitor and provide in-depth review of documentation for compliance, completeness and correctness

This position is primarily located at 33 Ursula Franklin Street.

 


Qualifications:

The Program Officer must have:

  • Undergraduate degree or other formal post-secondary education is required
  • 2+ years of work experience in a customer service role in a public sector setting, preferably in a healthcare administration or research administration environment.
  • At minimum one (1) year of research experience
  • Experience developing and implementing projects and experience with change management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated by experience drafting formal letters, instructional documents, and mass communications
  • Exemplary attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and discretion and a genuine interest in supporting scientific research
  • Advanced user knowledge of common office applications
  • Experience or formal education in human resources management is an asset
  • Experience with working in an academic or healthcare environment is an asset

The ideal candidate would possess the following skills:

  • Ability to quickly find, learn and assimilate new information
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of diverse projects simultaneously
  • Ability to capture and articulate risk issues
  • Ability to effectively communicate and problem-solve with a diverse variety of stakeholders and team members who may have conflicting interests and priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
