What You’ll Do:

The RF Optimization Engineer position requires a deep understanding of wireless network design, capacity planning, network optimization and performance engineering. Required capacity planning skills and knowledge include the ability to plan network capacity improvements based on subscriber forecast, usage models and trending of performance and traffic data. Also required is the ability to process wireless network drive data to identify and optimize poor performing areas – this includes the use of site database information, the ability to incorporate drive test data and the ability to change network parameters. This engineer must have the ability to determine optimal cell placement and performance based on factors relating to interference, coverage footprint, interference, link budgets and capacity management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

• Perform wireless network engineering services including, but not limited to:
  • Network coverage Planning
  • Traffic engineering
  • Frequency/offset/timing planning
  • Neighbor list preparation
  • Network optimization
  • Performance engineering
  • Capacity management
• Perform field-based engineering activities including, but not limited to:
  • CW testing
  • Candidate site visits
  • Optimization and system performance drive testing
• Assume responsibility for assigned engineering activities with minimal supervision.
• Track and report the status of engineering activities underway and move them through to completion.
• Collaborate on work with senior team members.

Who You Are:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years related industry experience in design and/or optimization of wireless networks.
• Working knowledge of network planning tools such as Atoll, Asset, Planet EV, EDX SignalPro, CelPlan, etc.
• Working knowledge of network optimization tools such as Actix, Windcatcher, XCAL/XCAP, etc.
• Strong understanding of digital communications theory, data networks and protocols.
• Proficient in standard wireless network engineering fundamentals, methods and procedures.
• Practical experience with wireless data technologies such as LTE/VoLTE, CDMA/EVDO, UMTS/HSPA, etc. with a strong understanding of air interface, protocols and parameters.
